On Thursday, July 9, Manresa plays host to one of the 37 dinners taking place simultaneously around the world in the first ever global collaboration of the 2015 “The Grand GELINAZ! Shuffle,” sponsored by San Pellegrino U.S.A.
On this night, Manresa Chef and Proprietor David Kinch trades places with one of 36 other acclaimed, pioneering chefs in an unprecedented international restaurant swap. Guests should “expect the unexpected” as the chef cooking at Manresa, and the location for Chef Kinch’s guest dinner are not revealed until the end of the night on July 9.
Manresa’s guest chef will travel from their home country to Los Gatos, CA three days prior to prepare a unique eight-course menu. As an added twist, this chef will not bring ingredients from his/her country so the resulting menu combines the guest chef’s culinary approach with the energy of the current location. Visiting chefs will not only cook in their new kitchen, but also have a glimpse of their colleague’s daily life, immersed in their culture and location.
From the Bay Area, Kinch is among counterparts Crenn and Patterson as they make their way around the world to cook, leaving the comfort of their home environment and routine for a different culture and country.
Participating chefs also include Ducasse, Redzepi, Atala, Aduriz, Aizpitarte, Bottura, Brock, Narisawa, Shewry, Ros, Camanini, Grebaut, Saint-Pierre, Gürs, Wetzel, Nilsson, and Chang.
GELINAZ! Shuffle celebrates the very core of the hospitality industry and the essence of “creativity without fear” by sharing knowledge and exposure to new ingredients and practices. There is no voting system, there is no number one and there is no judgement. Instead, this collaboration offers the diner a unique and exciting experience and leaves each kitchen and participating chef with a fresh understanding of a different culinary culture, in an international exchange of knowledge. The result of the GELINAZ! Shuffle is not limited to the menus each chef creates. It’s the intention of this collaboration that the styles of kitchen practice, structure and approach, as well as front of house philosophy, will trigger improvements, changes, and new ideas as the intimate internal workings of participating restaurants are shared with transparency.
Tickets are now available for purchase from www.gelinaz.com. Manresa is offering reservations for tables of two or four. Ticket prices are exclusive of wine, tax and service charge.
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are sold ‘anonymously’. Audiences buy their tickets without knowing the identity of the chef who is taking over the kitchen of the restaurant they book. The name of the secret chef will be revealed only at the end of dinner.
